Sense and Sensibility

ABOUT ABOUT

This playful, family-friendly adaptation of Jane Austen’s beloved novel follows the fortunes (and misfortunes) of the Dashwood sisters—sensible Elinor (junior McKenna Kemry) and hypersensitive Marianne (junior Jazzie Goldsworthy)—after their father’s sudden death leaves them financially destitute and socially vulnerable. Set in gossipy late 18th-century England, the play examines our reactions to societal pressures with emotional depth, funhouse theatricality, and a huge helping of humor: When reputation is everything, how do you follow your heart?

The RHS production — which will be presented in black box style—is the Central Oregon premiere of this fresh, Off-Broadway hit; it is also the debut production of the school’s newly formed Advanced Theatre Ensemble class.

Sense and Sensibility is presented by special arrangement with Dramatists Play Service, Inc., New York.
